Armistice Day Commemorations

Iain MacKenzie laid a wreath on behalf of the Passchendaele Society at the Armistice Day Commemoration at the Court of Honour , Auckland War Memorial Museum on Sunday the 11th of November 2012.
It was a very moving occasion and was attended by HRH Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.
Addresses were delivered by the Prime Minister, the Right Honourable John Key and His Worship the Mayor of Auckland, Len Brown. Passchendaele Society Board Member Ron Longley read the John McCrae poem “In Flanders Field”.
After the ceremony Iain spoke with both Prince Charles and the Prime Minister. Both acknowledged the importance of remembering Passchendaele as a significant part of the Armistice Day Ceremony.
