95th Commemoration of Passchendaele

Today at the Auckland War Memorial Museum we remembered those who gave their lives at the Battle of Passchendaele.

Wreaths were laid by Hon Nathan Guy MP, Minister of Veteran Affairs; Hon Phil Goff MP; Cr Michael Lee; Michael Crawford, Consul General (Australia); Kevin Lynch, Consul General (United Kingdom); Pierre Delorme, Consul General (Canada); Rodney Walshe, Honorary Consul General (Ireland); Lode Notredame (Belgium); Lt Gen (Retd) Don McIver, CMG,OBE ; Graham Gibson; Peter Mason; Gordon Ragg; Ken Davie; Cdr Geoff Rice; Lt Col Christopher Powell ED; Group Capt. Kevin McEvoy; Col (Retd) Dan Gardiner; Roy Clare CBE; Dr William Randall, Iain MacKenzie.

Winners of the Suburban Newspapers’ Passchendaele Tribute Competition also laid floral tributes.

The Hon Nathan Guy MP presented The Minister of Veterans’ Affairs Prize for the Competition “Why don’t we Remember The Battle of Passchendaele?” to Nathan Garry, Dunstan High School.
